Charity bowls day: Fund-raiser gets a revised format

06 Feb, 2012 03:00 AM
THE format for Dandenong and District Charity Bowls Day on Sunday has changed from previous years.

Due to the shortage of entries the competition will be played at one venue, the Dandenong Bowls Club, and will comprise three games of 12 ends.

The winner and runner-up will be decided by the normal points process.

Instead of venue prizes there will be a prize for the best last game winner who is not the event winner or runner-up.

The draw was held last Wednesday and can be viewed at participating bowls clubs and at Highway Bowls Centre.

Although the draw has been made, a phone call to John Pentreath on 0417055466 may still secure a place for your team.

A mixed-fours event starts the day at 9.15am with an opening spider.

The winning team gets $500 cash and individual trophies donated by Hunter Bowls. The runners-up get $240 for the team and individual trophies.

The perpetual trophy, the Wal Turner Shield, also goes to the victors.

The 2013 Dandenong and District Charity Bowls Day is being planned for March 24, 2013. The venues will be decided later.
