THE Casey Comets came back from two goals down to snatch an inspirational 3-2 win over Frankston Pines on Saturday.
With the Pines having a new coach in Jimmy McMinimee, it was always going to be tough for the Comets.
Casey started with Paul Presti up front, alongside Negus Henry and captain Tony Saunders in the middle, while David Terek was dominating on the left side of defence.
The Pines scored the first goal against the run of play through Mathew Morris-Thomas and went two goals up in the second half through Morris-Thomas again.
Casey coach Dougie Chisholm substituted defender Dominic Branca for forward Blake Hicks for his first senior game.
The Comets pulled a goal back when Henry rose above the Pines defence to head the ball past the keeper.
Presti scored again for the Comets from a great cross from Hicks.
Then, with time running out, Saunders sealed an unlikely win when he got his head to a Terek cross and nodded the ball into the net.
The reserves won 4-1 against a young Pines outfit.
