BERWICK Football Club has landed a major recruiting coup with former top junior Madison Andrews agreeing to return to the club.
Andrews, who was named VFL club Sandringham's reserves best afield in the previous season, signed with the Wickers before Christmas and will give them a boost through the middle of the ground.
Wickers coach Dean Rice said Andrews was keen to rejoin his brother Jordy back at their home club after a successful stint at the St Kilda affiliate.
Andrews played five senior games for the Zebras and 12 reserves matches last season.
"He's a Berwick boy and his brother Jordy is at the club," Rice said. "He'll be a good player for us."
Rice said the Wickers are unlikely to recruit heavily but "still have got a couple in the pipeline". "We've pretty much got a heap of young blokes coming through," he said.
Cranbourne has suffered a blow with former Carlton player Caleb Tiller signalling his intentions to move to a club closer to his home in the west of Melbourne.
Ryan Jones has joined Tyabb's new coach and former Eagle Brad Collar at the Yabbies but the premier is again expected to be among the stronger teams in the competition.
"We're still speaking to a few people," Eagles coach Doug Koop said. "If we can maintain our list we'll be reasonably happy and I hear that a few guys might be coming back to the club.
"Hopefully they are a bit older and more experienced."
