Cups of joy overflow for the Eagles

07 Sep, 2009 11:58 AM
THE Cranbourne Eagles are flying high after swooping on three premiership cups in one of its most successful seasons in the Dandenong District Junior Football League.

Eight Eagles sides out of a possible 14 reached the grand finals last Sunday week with successful sides including the under-10 and under-12 Red divisions and the under-16s.

Under-10s coach Matt Hodge said he was extremely proud of his young charges, who led the league ladder all year, dropping only one game, against eventual grand final opponent Hampton Park.

Casey councillor Kevin Bradford congratulated club president Alan Courtenay and the rest of the committee for creating a fantastic family atmosphere that encouraged all teams to play for the jumper but have fun doing it.

"Watching several of the games, I'm quite sure some of the young boys will go on to playing senior football in later years," Cr Bradford said.
