BEACONSFIELD turned the Casey Cardinia League finals series on its head with an upset 18-point victory over Cranbourne on Saturday.
After being the superior side all season, Cranbourne failed to fire a shot at Edwin Flack Reserve, outclassed by Beaconsfield to go down 8.14(62) to 6.8(44).
Just 14 goals were kicked for the afternoon in wet and windy conditions. When the teams met in round 9, just 11 goals were kicked, Cranbourne winning on that occasion by 23 points.
Despite kicking with the aid of the wind in the opening quarter, Beaconsfield could manage just 1.8. However, they were able to recover to score 7.6 in the next three quarters.
Michael Collins has been superb for Beaconsfield all season and his performance on Saturday, capped off by two goals, lived up to expectations.
Lachlan Oakley is enjoying a purple patch and was superb again on Saturday with two majors, while Matt Stocco was dangerous up forward. Beaconsfield has guns on every line and we always suspected that if all were to fire they would be hard to stop.
Robbie Taylor was back to his vintage best, Kane Airdrie dominated and former West Coast and Collingwood listed player Andrew Williams did as he pleased.
Aaron Gwozdziewski seemed to have brought his own footy.
The week's break will be of great advantage to Beaconsfield and there's now no question of its premiership favouritism.
Narre Warren came from behind to defeat Pakenham by 25 points at Pakenham in the first semi-final yesterday. Pakenham could only manage 1.2 in the second half to go down 10.8(68) to 13.15 (93).
