Police are appealing for information about a small grass fire in the O'Tooles Road Reserve in Cranbourne last Sunday week.
Residents raised the alarm about 12.30am and there were unconfirmed reports of explosions shortly before the fire.
A resident noticed a dark-coloured car taking off about the time of the outbreak.
